What you may do without asking
Quote from any piece here, in print, online or on air, with attribution to MangoPOV and a link to the piece where the medium allows one. Reproduce any figure, date or table. Describe a finding in your own words. Use these pieces to locate a primary document and then cite that document instead, which is the use this archive was built for and the one it would rather you made.
No word limit is set, because setting one would invite argument about the boundary instead of about the facts. Quote what the story needs.
Note that quoting for reporting, criticism and review is generally permitted by law regardless of what any website says. This page is here to remove the doubt, not to create a permission you did not already have.
The structured data is openly licensed
claims.json carries every published piece with its figures, its sources, their publishers, their retrieval dates and their grounding tiers, in a form a machine can read. That file and the source listing on the documents page are available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Build on it, query it, check it against the originals.
What belongs to somebody else
Most of what these pieces rest on is not MangoPOV’s to license. A Supreme Court judgment belongs to the Court. A gazette notification and an Act belong to the government that published them. A news report belongs to the newsroom that wrote it. This archive holds copies of those documents so that a claim can still be checked when the original link stops resolving, and it records where each one came from and when it was fetched. It does not acquire any right to grant you in them.
So: the permissions on this page cover MangoPOV’s own writing and its own derived data. For the documents themselves, the source list at the foot of every piece links each one to its origin, and the terms are whatever the body that issued it says they are.
The one thing to ask about
Republishing a whole piece, or a substantial part of one, as an article on another site. Translation into another language, which is welcome and worth doing properly rather than automatically. Anything that would place a complete copy of this work somewhere a reader would find instead of the original.
A contact address for permissions and corrections is not published yet. Until it is, the YouTube channel reaches the same person.
If you are checking rather than quoting
Each piece states the date it was published and, where the text has since changed, the date it changed, with a corrections log on the piece itself listing what moved and why. Every source entry gives the date this archive fetched the document. If a figure here disagrees with a figure you hold, the source list is the place to settle it, and if this site turns out to be wrong, point at the document and it gets corrected on the page rather than quietly.
